Ways To Reuse Old Outfits

Ways To Reuse Old Outfits

Why style your outfits just one way, then discard them? Here are a few fun ways to reuse your old outfits with a twist :)
Ways to style and reuse old clothes and outfits

Convert them into crop tops
Crop tops are fun to wear and can be a very comfortable option during summers. You can turn your old shirts/t-shirts or leggings into a crop top. This is how -

T-shirt/shirt to a crop top (No sewing required)
  1. Choose the shirt/t-shirt you’d like to convert into a crop top
  2. Select optimum length by trying the t-shirt/shirt on
  3. Cut along the desired length
  4. Cut away the sleeves and collar
  5. Sew along cuts if necessary/ style it as is for a rugged look

Leggings to crop top
  1. Fold the leggings in half so that the legs are aligned.
  2. Cut a 4" (10 cm) diameter circle at the crotch.
  3. Cut the legs shorter if desired. Leaving the legs as is will result in a long-sleeved crop top.
  4. Sew along cuts if necessary/ style it like it as it is for a rugged look

Patches and brooches
Styling your outfits with accessories has been a tradition since time immemorial. You can style your older outfits with patches to give them a styling twist. Patches can also be used to cover up any previous mending done to the outfit.

Blankets
Another way to repurpose your old outfits is to convert them into blankets. Have a great deal of concert t-shirts that are getting old? Cut out the sleeves and stitch the fabrics together to make them into a blanket. Trim around the edges for a symmetric shape, and stitch around the corner to avoid faster wear and tear.

Long sleeve T-shirt / shirt into a wrap skirt

Shirt - no sewing required
  1. Wrap the shirt around your waist such that the sleeves align with your waist
  2. Button up the shirt till you find your fit
  3. Wrap the sleeves around and use them as the belt
  4. Put in a cute knot that’ll add some extra style to this new look
T-shirt
  1. Mark a straight line across the T-shirt, right below the armholes
  2. Cut along the line. The bottom piece will be used to fashion a wrap skirt. (The top part can be used as a fix for dresses with low neckline if needed)
  3. Cut a straight line across the length of the cut piece
  4. Wrap it across as a skirt and get measurements for any required adjustments
  5. Once done with the measurement, you can use the sleeves (*if a long sleeve t-shirt) to fashion out the belt for the wrap skirt
  6. In case you’ve selected a short sleeve t-shirt to make your wrap skirt, buttons can be used to keep the skirt in place.
*One button near waist and one for the overlapping layers

Convert old T-shirts to grocery bags
Another fun way to upcycle your old faded t-shirts is converting them into fun, colorful produce shopping bags.
  1. Cut a straight line across the T-shirt right below armholes
  2. Stitch the bottom part of the cut out part (The top part can be used as a fix for dresses with low neckline, if needed)
  3. Cut out holes for handles and you’re done

Use old T-shirts to create a scarf.
